PhD Teaching Studentship Scholarships for Mothers


Research Scholarships for Mothers proposals should be in one of the following areas: modern British history (in either the history of crime; 20th-century Labour politics; interwar culture and society; historiography; antisemitism; racism; Orientalism); contemporary French history (politics; immigration); British imperial history (the Middle East); Middle Eastern history (Zionism; the Zionist-Palestinian conflict). The award will be a complete waiver of postgraduate tuition fees for three years’ registration as an MPhil / PhD student. The studentship Scholarships for Mothers will also include an opportunity to teach up to four hours in the first year of registration, with the expectation of rising to six hours in the subsequent two years. Scholarships for Mothers Applicants will therefore be assessed both for the viability of their research plans and for their suitability to undertake degree-level teaching. The History team at Edge Hill is a highly-rated dynamic group that specialises in modern History. In RAE 2008, 30% of its published research was judged to be world-leading or internationally excellent. The Scholarships for Mothers History team has an excellent reputation for teaching and was ranked No. 1 in the North-West and 10th in the UK in the National Student Survey of 2010.
