PhD Teaching Studentship Scholarships for Mothers


Research Scholarships for Mothers proposals should be in one of the following areas: modern British history (in either the history of crime; 20th-century Labour politics; interwar culture and society; historiography; antisemitism; racism; Orientalism); contemporary French history (politics; immigration); British imperial history (the Middle East); Middle Eastern history (Zionism; the Zionist-Palestinian conflict). The award will be a complete waiver of postgraduate tuition fees for three years’ registration as an MPhil / PhD student. The studentship Scholarships for Mothers will also include an opportunity to teach up to four hours in the first year of registration, with the expectation of rising to six hours in the subsequent two years. Scholarships for Mothers Applicants will therefore be assessed both for the viability of their research plans and for their suitability to undertake degree-level teaching. The History team at Edge Hill is a highly-rated dynamic group that specialises in modern History. In RAE 2008, 30% of its published research was judged to be world-leading or internationally excellent. The Scholarships for Mothers History team has an excellent reputation for teaching and was ranked No. 1 in the North-West and 10th in the UK in the National Student Survey of 2010.

Scholarships for Mothers the Business School comprises three individually excellent disciplines of Accounting & Finance, Economics and Management. The School undertakes high quality research and scholarship and attracts large numbers of well qualified undergraduate and postgraduate students from across the world. Scholarships for Mothers Applications for a variety of posts are invited from all three disciplines Successful applicants for all roles will undertake high quality research and publish in high impact journals. There will be opportunities to undertake a range of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision, together with an appropriate administrative load.

Economics

The Scholarships for Mothers main research strengths lie in the areas of macroeconomics, financial economics, international finance, development economics and regional economics, and members of the group regularly publish in leading refereed journals. RAE 2008 results placed the discipline top in Scotland on the basis of GPA and research income and ranked all research as being of international quality: 75% was considered to be world-leading and internationally excellent.

Monica Cole Scholarships for Mothers Research Grant

The Monica Cole Research Grant offers £1,000 each year to a female physical geographer undergraduate or postgraduate student undertaking original fieldwork overseas. The Grant is given in memory of Professor Monica Cole, an eminent physical geography researcher.

Born in 1922, Monica Cole was a leader in the field of geo-botany. Her career spanned continents and decades. She held the position of Chair of Geography at Bedford College for many years. Shortly after her retirement in 1975, she received the RGS-IBG Murchison Medal for major contributions to the geography of South Africa and to the understanding of savannas.
